Many people are scared of needles. What do you do?

Needle-phobia. Growing a thriving practice has plenty of challenges, no matter what particular service you provide. It’s even more complicated when you’re an acupuncturist.

Fear of Needles

When you’re offering a service that brings people face-to-face with their fear of needles… well that adds yet another challenge to building a successful practice.

The most effective way to deal with this is through demonstration.

By “showing” you are “not selling”

The concept is pretty simple...
When your patient can see and experience the acupuncture process and the benefits that comes from it…well, it just makes your job going forward much easier.

But…

  • How in the world do you ever get them to show up at your office?
  • How do you get them to “experience” acupuncture from you, even though they may have a fear of needles?

The quick answer is... you have to give prospective patients a very good reason to get them to come to your clinic.
It can definitely be a challenge!

The good news is, I’ve developed a solution to this problem.

The foundation of the solution comes from understanding people don’t get acupuncture because of the needles. They get acupuncture because of the benefits of the needles.

One of the most easily understood benefits is stress reduction.  You’ll be hard pressed to find someone that doesn’t want to lower their stress level, right?

The technique is to connect the patient’s experience of reducing their stress with acupuncture in your clinic.  If you can master this technique, you will turn a higher number of prospective patients into new patients.  Patients who are willing to schedule your next available appointment.

Imagine walking up to a person who’s scared to death of needles and walking away with a confirmed appointment for acupuncture!  Does that sound impossible?

Not everything I’ve tried over the years has just worked right away.  Sometimes you’ll have to do some experimenting before you get it right.

This strategy to attract new patients with the 20-20-2 Technique does work with practice. As with anything new, it will take a few tries to figure out what works best for your clinic, so keeping trying and you’ll begin to see the benefits.

With practice comes experience, some practitioners have averaged 12 new patients per month using the 20-20-2 Technique.

Here’s the short version of the 20-20-2 Technique and how it works…

People are nervous about receiving acupuncture, because there is a HUGE phobia of needles in the world. And getting a potential patient in your clinic to experience a 20-20-2 session helps dilute this FEAR of NEEDLES!

Why? Because you are using two simple ear points that people hardly feel.

If you can get a “needle-phobic” person over their initial needle fear, then you are practically home free!

Don’t be surprised if you hear needle-phobic people begin to say...
"That wasn’t so bad at all.  I feel relaxed."

Here's What The 20-20-2 Technique is...

 It takes 20 minutes – a mini stress-reduction treatment, usually a 20-minute acupuncture session.

It costs 20 dollars – I charge $20 for an Acupuncture Happy Hour session, and sometimes I offer it for free, especially if I am at a health fair or networking event.

– It uses 2 potent acupuncture points –You are probably well aware that Ear Shen Men and Point Zero have the capacity to transform stress and anxiety, am I right? I hope so! These are the two points I use.

The Technique: Here's How it Works

Hand out these specialized stress-reduction treatment Call-to-Action cards to other doctors to give to their patients. Give them to your patients too and encourage them to share them with family and friends. Send your Call-to-Action cards in letters. Hand them out at talks or networking events, at the grocery store, in the headache isle. Hand them out to everyone you meet.

Good-Karma Call-to-Action cards!

Call-to-Action cards give patients and potential patients a reason to come in to your clinic to learn about and experience acupuncture. Providing a mini-stress reduction treatment or other free offer will allow you to attract more patients. Makes sense, right?  It’s the perfect way to encourage people to try acupuncture for the first time.  VIEW OUR DESIGNS HERE

Offer mini acupuncture sessions to people and give them a “reason” to schedule an appointment with you. Help them feel relaxed and renewed and they’ll be more likely to seek future treatment and book an appointment!

The 20-20-2 Technique works and can attract more new patients to your clinic by giving prospects a reason to “try” your services.
